Milford has now launched its first ever chapter of the National English Honor Society (NEHS) this week, marking a major step in expanding opportunities for students passionate about literature, writing, and the humanities. The inaugural meeting drew an impressive turnout, filling the room with excited students ready to contribute to the school’s growing community of scholars.
The meeting opened with warm remarks from faculty advisors Mrs. Kristen Aghajanian and Mr. Wyatt Rogers, who expressed their enthusiasm for bringing NEHS to Milford High. Both highlighted the society’s mission; to encourage academic excellence in English, foster a love of reading and writing, and provide meaningful service to the school and community, for example tutoring.
During the meeting students elected the chapter’s first leadership team:
- President: Giovanna Weiner
- Vice President: Judith De Melo
- Secretary: Thiago Oliveira
- Treasurer: Julia Webster
The officers were recognized for their strong speeches, dedication, and vision for the chapter’s future. Advisors noted that they were “ thoroughly impressed” by the presentations and the enthusiasm shown by all candidates.
Students who are interested in joining NEHS next year will be able to apply in the fall. Membership inquiries can be directed to Mrs. Aghajanian or Mr. Rogers, who will guide students through eligibility requirements and the application process.
With its successful first meeting and a committed group of student leaders, Milford High School’s NEHS chapter is off to a promising start. Ready to celebrate English scholarship and inspire creativity for years to come.
