The Bachelorette Gone Bad

The Bachelorette Gone Bad

Kendall Dexter, Staff Writer

Have you been keeping up with the current season of “The Bachelorette”? This season is like no other, and you might even notice some familiar faces. One of the men searching for love in season 16 is from Milford. If you want to catch him on the show, look for Brendan on your TV screen. There have also been some men from areas in other parts of Massachusetts: one from Framingham and another from Boston. There seems to be some clear representation of Massachusetts in this current season.

Aside from our fellow Milfordian showing up in this season, there are some other pretty wild things making this season one of a kind. The first bachelorette this season, Clare Crawley, seemed to have found the love of her life the second he stepped out of the limousine. Clare has been on many seasons of “The Bachelor”, including “Bachelor in Paradise” and now “The Bachelorette”, and within them she has been unable to find that special someone. She even claimed that because she has been on this show so many times, she knows exactly what she is looking for in a man. So much so that she became engaged only during the first few episodes of the season. This left the other 16 men disappointed and feeling a bit cheated. Some of them poured their hearts out to her in a way they never have before, and only to get a few days to interact with her. This is just that much more frustrating for the remaining men because, due to the pandemic, they had to go through the long process of testing and two weeks of quarantine just to get the chance to meet Clare. Although this is frustrating, Clare was able to find love, and after all, that was the main purpose of this season.
Returning to the engagement of Clare and her soon to be husband, who I will not yet reveal, there has been some suspicion among fans that these two have interacted before the start of the season. To this question, both Clare and her fiancé explain that this is simply a rumor. They had not interacted at all prior to the first episode of this season. Clare does explain that she had looked at his Instagram, but this is no different than what she did with any of the other guys. Do you believe that this was love at first sight or did they communicate off screen? You will have to watch this season to see how it all played out.

From living through a pandemic to a love story that has never been encountered before in Bachelorette history, this season is extraordinarily different and definitely worth a watch. Although it may seem that this season has ended almost as soon as it began, there is still a long way to go until the 16 men remaining are given a fair shot at love. They may be frustrated, but don’t count them out yet; they are all getting a second chance with a new bachelorette.
