The CW network released “Gossip Girl” on September 19, 2007, with the first episode titled, “Pilot”. Which then stayed in production until December 17, 2012, when the final episode, “New York, I love you, XOXO,” was released. 

Gossip Girl grasped the attention of all teens and young adults during this time. This drama follows the lives of privileged Upper East Side teens, with some of the most intimate details of their lives spread through blasts from an anonymous source who goes by the name “Gossip Girl.” 

‘Gossip Girl’ was then added to the popular streaming service ‘Netflix’ in the early 2000s but was taken off in January of 2021 due to a decline of interest in the show. 

While many early 2000s trends have been making a comeback, TV shows are a top contender, persuading Netflix to add Gossip Girl back to their streaming service in October of 2024.

Popular apps like TikTok are consumed with the relationship between main characters Chuck Bass and Blair Waldorf, played by Ed Westwick and Leighton Meester.
