On October 3 Sabrina Carpenter brought her talent back to Boston at The Garden showcasing her new album Short n’ Sweet, along with some of the old favorites.
The show started promptly at 8:30 with the backdrop projecting a screen showing an intro to the concert. It was an animated clip of Carpenter’s life that reminded me much of an old theme “song” to a tv show. Many “ads” like this were included later on into the performance while she was changing her outfits.
In Act 1 of the show, Carpenter opened with her viral song “Taste” that charted at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was the perfect way to start out her concert so the crowd got a good “taste” as to what entertainment was to come.
“Who’s the cute boy with the white jacket and the thick accent?” Well, he is rumored to be Barry Keoghan, Carpenter’s boyfriend. That is from the song “Bed Chem” which ended Act 1 with a bang.
Carpenter then changed into a black, lace jumper in her “Sabrina After Dark” act. This was the most lively part of the show that included the audience.
She played her iconic songs “Feather” and “Nonsense” during this part from her album emails I can’t send which is the whole reason she blew up in the first place.
Carpenter also included her short yet impactful song “because i liked a boy”. The crowd pulled out their flashlights and it was a very surreal moment for everyone relating to her heartfelt song.
While many artists include a cover of a song or sing a surprise song, Carpenter spun a bottle to pick the song she would sing for the night. The bottle landed on number 1, of 4 that ended up being the song “Mamma Mia” by ABBA. She definitely did justice to the iconic ’70s song.
With the final act being “Don’t Touch That Dial!” was a great way to end the concert. At all of her shows, she chooses one audience member that she fawns over and then sings her pop song “Juno” to that person. Carpenter chose a girl named Rochelle and gave her fuzzy, pink handcuffs which have to do with a line in that song. Everyone in that stadium wanted Carpenter to “make them make her fall in love”.
Carpenter left for a minute after finishing up her last song being a slow song, “Don’t Smile”. While that is such a great song to end with, the crowd was chanting for more.
She came back out in her sparkling pink two-piece and her gogo boots playing her encore “Espresso”. This song blew the roof of the Garden, which is the best way to close out the show.
