Many changes are being made to theme parks nowadays as guests’ interests shift with time. Disney’s theme parks are undergoing the most, with fans outraged by a major change announced at the 2024 Disney D23 Expo.
Disney World in Orlando, Florida, has four themed parks. The Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios. One of Hollywood studios’ main attractions is the experience of the beloved “Muppets Courtyard.” They have a Muppet themed restaurant and an iconic 3D experience where you experience the behind the scenes and presence of the Muppets preparing for a performance.
Muppet vision 3D was announced at the Disney fan expo to close on June 7th 2025, many guests are saddened to see it go, and many are getting their last experiences of Muppet Vision in before it is too late. It will be replaced with a Monsters Inc. themed land based on the hit Pixar movie.
Disney fans wonder if the Muppets attraction is so well-liked in the parks why does it have to go? There are theories that this is a cover-up for the Muppets to replace Aerosmith’s “Rock N Roller Coaster” also in Hollywood studios.
Many deem that the famous band Aerosmith, in which a rollercoaster on the other side of the park is themed, is very outdated and controversial. Due to lead singer Steve Tyler’s lawsuit over grooming a 16-year-old girl. According to the magazine “Inside the Magic,” Disney has dealt with incidents like this in the past by ignoring “biggest stars due to lawsuits and allegations, such as Johnny Depp being booted from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, even after being proven innocent.”
It is the end of an era for Rock N Roller Coaster fans and Muppet Vision 4D fans. But at least there is time to process this change, and look forward to the new attraction the muppets will be moved to. As Walt Disney himself once said, “Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world.”
